Fourth Of July 2011 on Little Gasparilla Island

The Little Gasparilla Island Fourth of July weekend is crazy once again. The Parade was a big hit as usual. We had a young lady sing the National Anthem to kick it the parade off. Lead by our Island Fire Truck and Ambulance. I hope you were able to see the Red/Blueman float, they were a hoot! I am guessing there were over a hundred carts in the parade. We also had the Little Gasparilla Island Fire Department Sale and BBQ, all a big hit. Then to finish off the night was a ton of fireworks on the beach with hundreds of people watching. We also saw a couple boats off the beach watching.  This is truly the most fun weekend all year at Hideaway Bay Beach Club on Little Gasparilla Island.  Enjoy the pictures, and see you next year!

You can catch a Tarpon on Little Gasparilla Island IF

If the Tarpon are in the area

If you can find bait (crabs) to buy

If they will stay up so you can track them

If you can get close enough to cast on them

If your boat won’t spook them away

If… and it’s a big one… if they are hungry

If that hook will stick in the hard jaw

If the 100 pound monster won’t spit the hook out

If you remember to Bow to the King when it jumps, so the line won’t get cut or break in the air

If your line is good enough to drag a 100+ pound monster

If your leader and hook knot is tied properly

If sharks are not around to mess with you and your tarpon

If…Then the BIG IF, can YOU handle a 15-45 minute fight in the 90 degree heat
